My wife and I have lived in Highgate Hill for around 30 years and we are fortunate to be the custodians of a small 1880s heritage listed house (please see my post Glenview – A Highgate Hill House circa 1883 ).

In the course of researching the history of our house via Trove, I discovered many interesting stories concerning Highgate Hill and its residents, reflecting the issues of the time and changing aspects of daily life. This has developed into a growing set of posts looking at many aspects of life in our suburb and nearby areas, representing a microcosm of Australian urban life.
